This past week, I had an interesting encounter—or rather, Zoom conversation—with a follower of my Simple Life YouTube channel (I’ll share the link below if you’d like to join us there!). It turns out she’s also here in Northern Ireland—small world, right?
During our chat, she asked me something that made me pause:
“Why did you leave Florida? Your life there seemed so glamorous.”
Her question really got me thinking. What exactly is glamour?
There are always two perspectives:
The Inside View – Our private thoughts, emotions, dreams, and sometimes even doubts.
The Outside View – What others see: the home we live in, the car we drive, the clothes we wear, the things we own.
Sometimes, these inside and outside views seem to meld together, as if our inner lives and outer appearances are one and the same. But here’s the thing—real glamour, in my opinion, is something that can’t be bought.
The belief that you can purchase glamour seems to miss the mark. Glamour, if it exists at all, might be about how we feel in our own skin, the depth of our experiences, and the authenticity of our lives, not just the things we display.
What do you think? Can you buy glamour?
If you've ever felt that there's more to life than the roles and routines you’ve been given, you’re not alone. I mentor women who are ready to step beyond appearances and re-imagine their lives from the inside out. If this resonates with you, let’s connect—I’d love to help you uncover a life that feels truly yours.
