Dear You,
People often say,
“You’re so lucky. You have your health. You must have money saved. You get to start over — just like that.”
It’s such a tidy story.I
This isn’t a silver platter. This is grit, grief, and starting over.
I didn’t arrive here by luck — I chose this.
But here’s what’s true:
I sold my home, my car, and nearly everything I owned.
I left the U.S. with two suitcases, a small dog, and a deep need for change.
Right now? I’m living off of a very limited budget savings building something from the ground up, something new from nothing.
Yes, I’m healthy — and I don’t take that for granted for one second.
But health isn’t a shortcut.
And this life I’m creating? It’s not easy.
It’s uncertain. It’s raw. It’s real.
I didn’t land here by luck.
I chose this.
Because staying where I was felt like slowly disappearing.
So I leapt.
And I still wake up most mornings not knowing if it will all work out.
But I keep going.
Because something inside me said: You cannot wait any longer to live.
I’m not lucky — I’m willing.
Willing to let go of what no longer fits.
Willing to walk into the unknown.
Willing to disrupt the story — for something more honest.
So if this disrupts you — good.
Disruption wakes up the parts of us we’ve been taught to silence.
Still here,
Carolyn
