The Silent Rebels
You don’t have to burn your life down. But you can stop living someone else’s version of it.
Dear You,
I am a rebel.
Not loud. Not flashy.
But steady — and certain.
It started long ago, in high school in Pennsylvania. All the “cool” girls were wearing patched-up jeans. I showed up in a dress. Painted my nails red. I didn’t want to be them. I didn’t even want attention. I just knew what felt like me.
But life has a way of filing down the edges.
Somewhere between real estate closings, caregiving, and keeping up appearances, I became what was expected.
I said the right things. Smiled on cue.
Until one day, I looked around and realized:
I had built a life that looked good from the outside… but felt like a borrowed coat on the inside.
It didn’t fit.
It never did.
So I quietly, slowly, started rewriting the script. Not with fire and fury. But with intention.
And that’s what this week is about:
The Silent Rebels.
The ones who played nice. Carried the weight. Did the “right” thing.
And now… want something different.
They’re not burning it all down — but the match is in hand.
They’ve earned their laugh lines. Their scars.
(And yes, even their elevens — those tiny twin wrinkles of a life well questioned.)
This morning. No filter. Just me, my red lipstick, and my well-earned elevens.
They’re ready for more:
More truth-telling
More ease
More space
More self
This isn’t about blowing up your life.
It’s about returning to what’s real.
A gentle question for you today:
What part of you is quietly asking for more?
And can you honor her whisper… before she has to scream?
In a few days, I’ll share something new:
A soft tool to help you listen in.
It’s not a personality quiz.
It’s a reflection mirror — and it might just point you back to what matters most.
Think of it as the opening note of the Simple Life Audit — a process for returning to yourself, one honest question at a time.
You’ll see it here first.
Still here,
Carolyn
