Six years is a LONG TIME to be STUCK!
Recently I had “not so unusual” conversation with a fellow entrepreneur. A story which many can relate [ hand raised ]
Here is “Mary’s“ story:
Since the age of 14-15 Mary dreamed of becoming a writer “ when she grew up”. In her mind she planned her future by putting pen to paper. Her thoughts, her ideas and the words where just waiting to be revealed to the world.
And then she made a mistake.
She told the world what she wanted to do with her life.
And sadly rather than supporting Mary’s dreams there was Backlash
You cannot do that
You need a “proper job” [ because what would the neighbors think ]
In the back of those words..
You must make us proud.
And
So Mary went off to law school. She studied hard, got her degree and headed out to “make her family/friends” proud. She secured a job in the corporate environment. She was a full fledged lawyer [ and making everyone proud]
And
She was miserable.
During those six years she chopped and changed employers.
Her thoughts where
Wrong boss
Wrong culture.
Wrong commute
Wrong, wrong, wrong.
During this journey she confided in friends who sadly seemed to be in the same situation.
They were miserable
They were unhappy.
They too were stuck. Mary took their unhappiness on board.
Bad idea
And then one day, as Mary looked in the mirror she realized where the problem lay. She was the one holding herself back. She had listened to everyone and not to herself. She didn’t realize she was in charge of her life, of her feelings, of her beliefs.
Her future depended on her.
And
She took a bold step…
Six years is a LONG time to spend your time in any environment or situation that does not fill your needs, does not pump up your mojo, does not make you feel alive.
We are here for a nano second. It is so important to find your joy and happiness.
It is so important to find YOU.
Can you relate? Have you ever been in a job, situation
that you dreaded, hit the wall, just felt totally drained?
P.S. Mary now is a full fledged entrepreneur running her copywriting company. She has never been happier.
