My Dog Has Better EU Travel Rights Than Me!
When Your Pet's Passport Trumps Your Own: A Tale of Schengen Shuffle.
As a US passport holder, I'm stuck playing the Schengen Shuffle.- I am legally allowed to stay 90 days in any 180-day period in the EU/Schegen countries. After my Spanish sojourn, I'm down to 83 days. Simple math: 90 days of European living, then 90 days elsewhere before you can return.
And yes, I knew all this before stepping on that plane in Miami. But here's what's got me shaking my head: My dear Miss Evie just got her EU Pet Passport. For less than $100, she's now officially more European than I'll ever be. No time limits, no exit stamps - she's free to stay as long as her heart desires.
The absurdity isn't lost on me. My dog has more European mobility rights than her human. I'm seriously considering having her adopt me - anyone know a good pet immigration lawyer? 🐾
