"Mindfulness" and "Joy of Living"
How Divided Attention Affects Mindfulness and the Joy of Living in the Moment
Here is a question for you, follow my thoughts [ please ]I was at the gym yesterday. I have earphones I could use when I exercise but never do.. In that environment I want to get in touch with my body, get it moving, and do my best to keep “her” flexible and strong.
As I was warming up on the treadmill there was a woman streaming and shouting as she ran on the treadmill. She was not in pain but she was watching a tennis match on her phone [ and clearly it was not going her way ] She also had earphones, the best way to describe them, is the type I was used to as a teenager- the larger, over the head piece of equipment.
Clearly the woman next to me was doing two things at once. We all see this at restaurants, cafes, practically everywhere. Our attention is divided into two directions, sometimes even more.
Where does this lead us?
Doing two, three, four things at once - do you really accomplish more?
If you do this, multitasking, please tell me where this leads you? What emotions flit through your mind as you are not focused on one experience?
Do you accomplish more? Or are you only partially committed.
