I took the train into Cardiff recently. This city is the capital of Wales. The journey only took 20 minutes, an easy commute for workers.
Funny how I never really commuted to a job, unless you count the walk down the hall in my homefrom my bedroom to my office.
I imagine having to turn up for a job at a certain time,
put in your hours and then head on home only to repeat the exercise can be pretty intense.
The reward is
A “guaranteed” income.
Paid vacations and holidays
And compensation when you are under the weather - sick pay.
Being self- employed is multi-faceted.
In the beginning of the journey none of the above are the norm. The success or the failure rests on your shoulders. This is such a responsiblity. Sometimes, oftentimes, it weighs heavy on your heart and shoulders.
I have always said I have a “cast iron” stomach. Most things I can figure out whether this be:
Seek help
Change directions
Cry [lol]
And I AM VERY STUBBORN.. This has enabled me to move forward and never look back.
However there are a few things that I would do differently, if I had to do it over again.
Namely
I would show myself some grace.
I wouldn’t push so hard.
I would trust my gut more.
I am curious. If you are self employed and could start over again is there anything you would change?
P.S. I would make a TERRIBLE employee. I hate following instructions and being told what to do. This is, as they say, not my jam.
